Any help or input would greatly be appreciated. Thanks. I have a 4 1/2 yr. old son who is struggling with all these things and has been diagnosed with all these things. I am mental health professional myself with a masters. I have used my bag of tricks on everything I can think of. We are eliminating dairy from the diet, we are on a behavior modifaction program that rewards good behavior; we are using 1,2,3 Magic for discipline. I am very drained and so is my husband even though I know we are doing all the right things. My son is not on medicine yet because we don't know what's cauing the seizures. We are looking into that. Once we find out hopefully we can assign a medicine to help his seizues that wont interfer with his ADHD.
I would like to know if there is any link between epilpsey and the cause of the ADHD behavior. I feel they are related somehow and all these disorders are linked in some way. Is there anything else I can do that I haven't tried? How is the epilpsey interfering or conneted to all this? Any suggestions or help? Thanks.

It's hard to say which comes first the ADHD or the seizures. Kind of like which comes first the chicken or the egg? Have you had an MRI done yet? Are you talking to a neurologist? Good luck.

Hi Tracey,
First of all, is your son being followed by a developmental neurologist who can address the issues specifically dealing with the ADHD and an occupational therapist who addresses the issues of sensory integration? I would not personally put my son on any medicines for the adhd before the age of 6 simply because of the studies. The reason I'm asking is because my 7 yr. old son is developmentally delayed due to extreme prematurity, has ADHD, sensory integration and a mild case of dysgraphia all of which are being followed by a developmental neurologist primarily. He receives speech to address his delays and Occup. therapy to address his sensory issues. I can identify with you on these issues. Here are two books you can read to maybe answer not only your questions here but others as well. TAKING CHARGE OF ADHD: THE COMPLET AUTHORITATIVE GUIDE FOR PARENTS (Revised Edition) by Russell A. Barkley ISBN: 1572305606 (I have this one) and ADHA and the Nature of Self Control ISBN: 157230250X (just ordered). You can go on Amazon.com or contact local bookstores to see if they carry these. Have you visited CHADD.org? This is an excellent website. I actually subscribe to receive their magazine that is geared towards ADHD and legislative issues. Don't settle for what the doctors say. Educate yourself. You are your child biggest advocate. FYI I was diagnosed with ADHD 2 1/2 yrs ago. I'm now 39. KEEP DIGGING!!!!!
