I am a student taking a class on the exceptional child. I am required to join a chat and ask a few questions for a research paper. If someone wouldn't mind responding, my first question is: what led you to suspect your child was ADHD? and my second question is: Do you feel your child's school supports his/her individual needs, why or why not? I appreciate any response. Thank you for your time!

Cadee didn't have behavior appropriate for her age. The school recommended adhd testing. She had adhd.
Cadee was cured so she doesn't have any special needs. She doesn't have adhd as long as we give her food that she can handle.
I wrote about it under the title here "Cure for ADHD

WELL SORRY ABOUT MY RESPONDING IN ALL CAPS, IM NOT YELLING ITS JUST HOW I WRITE!! ANYWAYS I NOTICED MY THAT SOMETHING WAS "WRONG" WITH MY SON AT THE AGE OF TWO YEARS OLD. I WOULD TAKE HIM TO THE PARK AND HE NEVER WANTED TO DO ANYTHING FOR MORE THAN I MINUTE. EVEN IF HE WAS HAVING THE TIME OF HIS LIFE PLAYING IN THE SAND OR SOMETHING , IT WOULD ONLY KEEP HIS ATTENTION FOR A VERY SHORT TIME. IF I WOULD READ HIM A BOOK AT BED TIME HE WOULD BE LOOKING AROUND THE ROOM AND NEVER COULD KEEP FOCUS. IF HE WOULD WATCH A CARTOON HE COULDNT EVEN SIT THROUGH A 30 MIN. EPASODE. I PUT HIM IN PRESCHOOL AT THE AGE OF THREE AND THE TEACHER NOTICED THE SAME THING. HE ALSO COULD NOT MAKE FRIENDS AND HE WAS ALWAYS PICKING FIGHTS WITH OTHER KIDS. HE STARTED TO MAKE AN UNCONTROLLABLE CLICKING SOUND WITH HIS MOUTH AND WOULD TALK ABOUT THE SAME THINGS EVERY SINGLE DAY AS IF HE FORGOT THAT HE JUST TOLD YOU YESTERDAY. I DID NOT WANT TO PUT HIM ON MEDS AND I REALLY DIDNT WANT TO TAKE HIM TO THE DOCTOR BECAUSE I DIDNT WANT ANYONE TO TELL ME MY KID HAD PROBLEMS BUT BY THE TIME HE WAS READY FOR KINDERGARDEN HE WAS OUT OF CONTROL AND SUPER WILD. I KNEW THE TEACHER WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO RUN AFTER HIM ALL DAY LIKE I COULD SO I MADE A DOC APPOINTMENT AND SURE ENOUGH NOT ONLY DID HE HAVE ADD BUT HE HAS ADD AND ADHD. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS VERY RARE. WELL TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT NOW HE IS 10 YEARS OLD AND HAS BEEN ON 12 DIFFERENT MEDS BUT IS NOW ON CONCERTA 36MG. HE IS SHOWING SIGNS OF HYPERSEXUALLITY AND STILL MAKES CLICKING NOISE WITH HIS MOUTH. I HAVE BEEN LOOKING ON THE INTERNET FOR HELP AND SEE PLENTY OF OTHER PARENTS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THE SCHOOL SYSTEM SUCKS BECAUSE THEY REALLY HAVE NO PLAN IN PLACE TO DEAL WITH CHILDREN WITH ADD . THE SOLUTION IS TO SUSPEND THEM. MY CHILD HAS EVEN BEEN PUT ON PARCIAL DAYS WHERE IF HE IS ACTING LIKE HE MAY NOT BE ABLE TO SIT STILL IN CLASS, THEY KEEP IN CLASS FOE 30MINS. AND SEND HIM HOME FOR TEH DAY. NOW THAT I TOLD YOU MY STORY PLEASE TELL ME WHAT YOU FIND OUT FROM OTHERS. SOME DAYS I FEEL LIKE MY CHILD IS THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS MANY PROBLEMS. ONE MORE THING, HAVE YOU EVER WONDERED WHY ADD AND ADHD IS SO COMMON NOW DAYS ?? I AM ONLY 30 YRS OLD AND I DONT REMENBER ALL THESE KIDS WITH ADD AND ADHD. MAYBE ITS IN THE DARN WATER, I THINK FOR NOW ON ILL HAVE BEER INSTEAD ...........JUST KIDDING HOPE THIS INFO HELPS YOU ACE THE PAPER.

My daughter was diagnosed at 2 with adhd, she is now 5. I have seen a very significent improvement in how she behaves on and off of medicine. She couldn't sit down, she was always misbehaving, getting into stuff and doing odd things. She has a weird obsession with her belly and poking it with objects, her hands, my hands etc. It was mainly the fact that she couldn't pay attention to anything I would say to her. I took her to the therapist and they said they have never seen a 2 yr old behave that way. She went to a phycologist and sure enough was diagnosed with adhd. They put her on medication and it's like it just opened up a doorway to other problems. She has now been diagnosed with bi-polar and a sensory disorder. They won't medicate her for bi-polar, and she sees a sensory expert for that issue. Her school supports her. She is really smart. She goes to a "psycho-social" preschool where they have group sessions. I too have noticed hypersexuality with her. She seems to really love boys and I have caughter her french kissing her stuffed animals and having her barbies kiss and rubbing their privates together. NOt sure why she does that. And I have talked to her phycologist about that as well. All I can really do is remove her from the situation.
