I am a mother of a 7 year old little girl and a 11 month old little girl. My husband and I have been having problems with our 7 yr old for almost two years now. I didn't notice it at first, in fact i didn't really notice that something was wrong until we had our youngest in March. Initially I thought that she was acting out due to the new baby. But the more I picked the issues apart, I noticed that it had nothing to do with the baby, in fact she is a wonderful big sister. She loves her baby sister to death. The problems that we are having is...1- she's always wound up tighter then a rubber band, and that's 24/7 without any sugar in her system. 2- She doesn't seem to hear ANYTHING that I tell her, let alone remember any of it. I can tell her to do something, and literally less then a minute later, she is asking me what I said. I have to actually have her repeat it back to me and that doesn't even work some times. 3- She never remembers where anything is. I can have her put a toy away in the same place over 100 places, and she'll never remember were it goes. 4- If she starts something, and doesn't have me standing over her telling her to finish it, she won't. 5- She is always talking and talking 100 mph- she never stops. which causes her to constantly interrupt people. I could keep going on... I guess what my question is... Does this sound like ADHD, and if it does... where do I go from here. Do I just contact our family doctor, or do I need to go to a specialist. I am truly a virgin with this. Is there anything that I can do at home to calm things down prior to getting her into a doctor? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you

I feel for you.I have 10yr. old boy/girl twins who both are currently taking Strattera. My son is mildly ADHD,is a bit hyper still, but he is very bright & witty,& makes good grades. We get along perfectly. My daughter, however,is still very hyper, makes terrible grades,& we fight continuously.Strattera is the only drug for ADHA that is not a stimulant. The problem with stimulants is that they can cause heart problems. So,here I am stuck in limbo not knowing if these HORRIFIC tantrums she throws regularly on ME,not my Husband, are a result of the condition, the drug, the dosage,or maybe just hormones kicking in.I also am at my WITS END.I am on all sorts of antidepressants, nerve pills, etc.& suffer from migraines, just from trying to deal with her.She thinks my Husband hung the moon, & that I am Satan. She constantly screams at me,"I HATE YOU".If I were you,I would start with my pediatrician & go from there.I wish I had an answer.{for you & me both} Good luck!
Take Care!
