I was just wondering if this was the norm.
My son was diagnosed with adhd approx 2 months ago. Since then, he has been on several medications.
The first 2, he was allergic to (swollen lips). All of the all medications, he would respond great for only 2 weeks and then we would either have to change the medication or change the dosage. There has been approximately 6 changes because he wouldn't respond to the medication after a 2 week period.
I'm puzzled and appreciate any input, please.

My son is 8 years old and was diagnosed last year. He was first put on a medication that made him jittery and hyperventalate. He then got contractures of his joints. Needless to say we tried another medication. After a couple of weeks we increased that medication and again a week or two later. after he was on the medication for almost 2 months he became suicidal. He want to jump out of a window and die. So we stopped that medication. Next we tried the third medication and after a month and a half he became very angry and mean. Not like him at all. He also became very talkative. I was exausted just listening to him. We stopped that medication and now on our fouth. He has been on it for 3 weeks now and we increased the medication once so far. We are ok right now. I'm waiting to see what happens in an other month. Wish us luck. Well I hope you don't feel alone. Stay strong and have faith you will find the right medication and the right dose. I've talked to my Dr about it and she says this happens all the time. Good luck.

I am 28 years old. I was diagnosed ADHD about 2 yrs ago. I was having symptoms of not sleeping. If I would sleep more than 2 hrs total, that was alot. I explained to my doctor that the reason I could nt sleep was because I felt like my brain was constantly going and going. During the day, I felt like I was always on a a time limit. If I had 1 thing to do and had 8 hrs to do it, I woud act Like I had 8 things to do in 1 hr. Anyway, my dr. put me on different medications because they would work for a few months and then I would get back to my old self. I have been on 3 different types also.

My daughter has only been prescribed Straterra, to which there has been no side effects.
