Yes, My son is now 8yrs old we have done this w/him since he was 2 1/2 . Kevin is mainstreamed in the 2nd grade with his 1:1 aide. He does get help from a spec. Ed teacher, for his Math & Reading,... (He does have expressive language deficits) . some comprehending can be very difficult at times for him.

ABA therapy is not as harsh as some people make it to be. We never did 40hrs, like it is suggested. We always tried to maintain 15-20 hrs per week , when he was very young....and we are now able to maintain 6-8 hrs to exercise his troubled areas "in his academics - and its done right within his school day, with 1 day extended".

ABA I do believe has made a hugh difference in my son's progress. (being mainstreamed ina public school) It basically introducing a task, breaking it down into small steps until the child can do it on his own.
~~Any other questions about this please feel free... to ask..

Thank you ladies. I'm faced with finding him a therapy team. I feel like I've been thrown out into the ocean and expected to swim back. I don't know what type of therapy team would be best for my son. So any information I can get on autism and it's treatments is much appreciated.

Where do you live? Trained therapists are not always hard to find. Most likely your son will also need Occupational and Speech therapy. Check with the dr. who diagnosed him, they might have suggestions for clinics you can hook up with. I work for a very good one in WI.
