Hello All, when I found out that my son who was 2 years, 5 months old as said to be showing signs of Autism, and then 2 months after that was diagnosed with Mild to Moderate Autism my world came crashing in. Of course like and parent that cared about his children and his family, I read as much as I could in books and on the web. The more and more I read the worse off I was because I would say that 90% of cases published on the web, and blogs, and what ever are very hard to read and the people and parents looking after these beautiful children are HERO's.
It has been almost 7 months since he was diagnosed. We, his mother and I, have been working hard with him every day and ensuring that he has ever advantage as every other child out there. I am happy to say that he has gone from no or little eye contact to having and winning a blinking contest with me. His is so affectionate that it's crazy some times. He loves to play cars, and almost to my dismay dolls, ball, play in the play park with other children. He has gone from no to 1 or 2 words to never shutting up. He has 30 to 40 words he uses, the rest is babble but he is trying to communicate because he is always pointing, taking you by the hand when you don't respond. He's smart as a whip like his old man too!
I guess what I'm trying to say is that there is hope. I mean we are not out of the water yet. He can still have a little tantrums here and there. He doesn't always know what your talking or saying to him, but he has gone 1000 miles in the last 6 months.

I just want to thank everyone that post here. I do not always respond, but I always read what is post. Or try to, sometimes I cry and can not finish, sorry.

My wife and I have try with success a couple of things like Vitamins treatment under a DAN doctors supervision, Constant work with him, almost like ABA or IBI, He is on a waiting list for ABA from a professional so I hope that will make all the difference in the world, and Now there is the new medication PTC124 coming out in the next 2 years, (read up on this on for sure guys). Plus I read today about Oxytocin, (This is a must read as well)

Anyways, I have gone on to long. There is hope, he will always be my joy, and thank you to everyone. This is a great place for support.

That is so wonderful!!! I am so encouraged to see his progress. My son also has been progressing rather rapidly...he started saying 1 single word at 29 months and now maybe saying 50+ words. He is now knows his colors and shape, although he can not said them yet, but he is pointing to the correct colors and shape when ask to. I still can't quite get him to look at me aside from just fleeting glance, and he still has a long way to go, but he is making progress and I'm so thrilled each step of the way!!! Is he your only child? Thank you for the update as I was wondering about your son for awhile now. :-)

Hello ItI, It's so nice to hear about the positive side of things about these children. I'm so happy to hear that your son is also doing well. "The Boy", is my only son but I have two other Children. The Oldest Girl is 14 and she is a typical teen, doesn't care about mom or dad but will always ask for money. She is a great help with the boy. My other daughter is 4 and she operates at above average level, or so I am told from her teacher. Anyways........I just wanted to post something positive for a change and get some disscussion going. Wishing everyone the best. Thank you for the support.
