Hello All, My son Waylon, who is 2yrs 9 months old today, was diagnosed with mild ASD on Dec of 2006. My Wife and I have been working with him for almost a year before the diagnosis because he was not speaking and not really understanding what was said to him. Of course we also had a development worker come in once a week to help as well.
Of course my life has turned upside down because if it but he is my boy, and nothing really changed for me except now he has a label, and I need to do things differently.
Now This forum has really helped, I try and contribute where I can but read almost everything. I visit the site ever day. I was hoping that some one might have a similar experience as me.
Since the diagnosis, we started to give him 1 oz of GoJo juice a day for Vit b's, we seen improvements. We then also added 1 Flintstone Vit a day, again we seen improvements. Before Christmas we changed his milk to Natrel Omega 3 @ night and Natrel Pro through out the day. We did this for a couple of reasons, and once again we saw improvements. The biggest improvements came 2 weeks ago when we started to use Lavender at nights while he slept. Since then he has given up the soother, and has moved to a bed. No more crib.
He communicates with most people, is a little shy but does play with other children. Since December of last year he has gone form saying nothing to now where he counts to 5, and can say please, thank you, hello, bye, plus a number of other words. He imitates what people do now, for example I was brushing my teeth, I gave him his tooth brush and he started to brush his teeth as well.
So the question I have is, "Could he have been miss diagnosed and is just a late bloomer?". The numbers 10 years ago was 1 in 10,000 children where diagnosed with a form of ASD. Now it is 1 in 166. Similar experiences. What do you think. I would love to hear from anyone. Thank you. ↓
