Does anyone have thoughts about how to eliminate a child's humming, which is their repetitive behavior which they do when they tune out. One professional gave us advice to do the behavior along with him, but this seems to upset him alot. This professional stated it was w=quite effective but it seems so alarming to my toddler. Has anyone had success participating along with their childs verbal stiming? Any tips about if this worked for you or about an alternative method to decrease his humming? Please help, we are so worried. The humming seems to be increasing during the day!

We found that the best way to decrease verbal stimming is redirecting him to something else. My son hums to get attention from us. Just stimulate him with something else. You'll see it will start to phase out. I hope this helps.

Even my 3 n half year old son does the same ..he hums himself to sleep and its really irritating at times. But the humming has gradually gone down once he feels he is not alone and has some company while hez laying down to sleep
