My son complains that certain noises are "too loud" and he covers his ears. This causes him to become extremely agitated. I've started reading about auditory integration therapy. Does this help in any way for our children? Has anyone tried it with their child and seen positive results?

One of the children I work with went through that therapy. It helped him process better. I've seen some good results from it. I guess there are a few different methods so be sure to research good.

My son is 5 years old and he has done the Tomatis therapy. Before we did Tomatis my son would scream at birthday parties, he couldn't cope with so many ppl singing loudly at once. He was terrified of baby toys that made music, babies crying, the list goes on and on.
Alex was 3 1/2 when we started Tomatis, after the first week of therapy he answered me for the first time, he said 'NO' to me. By the time he turned 4 he was sitting at a table, with a cake and candles and smiling while all the family sang happy birthday to him.
Alex is still sensitive, but before Tomatis he couldn't cope.
For Alex it was one of the best things I have tried and I'm planning to do another booster because his language improved so much after the 3rd session.
Hope this helps with your decision

Hello all
~~ FRAN ~~ I have recently found a link that tells about Auditory Intregration -- I just ordered the book , and it tells how a Mother did different types of therapy & the integration therapy is what totally cured their child of AUTISM . the link is Awakeningashley.com
~~ I really would love to try this with my 8 yr old in the summer...when he has alittle down time -- I hear this therapy can be done right in the home . I did do a for of Intregration therapy 4 yrs ago with my son, but it was only for 2 weeks ...we did 1 follow-up, but the travel time, plus the cost and the time away from my other 2 kids was draining. so, maybe God is giving me a sign, in finding the web site to get more info. I do know that this can be very expensive. Read this womens story, It does sound very promising. I almost think will I regret to try one more thing to make a difference for my son's future ??? I think that is a big question for all us Mom's.; in having a child w/Autism

My son is 8 yrs old, Mainstreamed in a public school (2nd grade) w/a 1:1 aide, and some help from Resource Room (w/special ed teachers) for Math & Reading..... we also maintain 6-8 hrs of ABA therapy, & Speech. Enjoy the Link about Ashley...I did .... God is good..... =
