I am starting an ABA program with my son with a team of people (30-40 hrs) wk. I've heard countless people site early intervention as key. But how early is early??And if you start at 4 instead of let's say 2-3 yrs. old, I understand the child will still make progress but 10-20 yrs down the road will they be "better off" because the intervention started a year or 2 earlier? Or is 4 still young enough????. At 3 My child had preschool (special needs) 12 hrs/wk. At 3 1/2 we pulled him out and did a AVB (applied verbal program ) at home with a team and that was approx 25hrs wk, and then a "teach" method for 20/hrs a wk. But I must say I did not see the improvements with the teach method which is why we are going back to ABA. He is now 4. Any insights?

I think you will make plenty of progress now at four. I wouldn't worry about starting later as long as you are getting him therapy and obviously have an intensive program set up so that is good. I am an aba therapist and I've seen progress at various age levels. I wish you the best in your program.
