Hi Im Kristynne. Im turning the sweet 16 in May and i wanted to get everything under control for my party. My theme, i was thinking of, would be a Masquerade Ball. or 'Unmask the Night'. The clors will be black, silver ,and white. Im a very fun type of girl and I've got alot of friends.I thought that this would be a great theme for me. My mom is renting out a hall, which holds close to 75 people. I picked the color scheme for black, silver and white isd because it's some of the easiest stuff to find. i need help with decorations though. I was going to put a black and white theme for every other table. And in the middle i wasn't sure of putting either An upside down top hat filled with black and white roses (which could easily decorated) or the happiness and tragiety mask as center peices. You see im really into theater, I just think that it's so much fun. also me and my friend are singers we're making up a special CD for this probably. My party is Formal, boys are custom to either wear all black or all white tux's and girls must wear black dresses since they are easier to find. My dress will be a prom dress, a very beatuiful black and white gown. There will be masks at the front door (all diffrent shapes and sizes) and they wear the masks until after my speech..introducing them all to my party and the whole theme. I will have a grand entrance from what I know of. My dad and i will have a father /daughter slow dance to the Phantom of the Opera soundtrack..My boyfriend and I will basically be the Phantom and Christien..it's both of our fav. movies. Im wondering where black and white masks can be found along with decorations for cheap. And do you think that it'll be better to make everything by hand or just buy them?
Also does anyone know of any good food to serve? I mean we'll basically be serving lunch/dinner so I was thinking of roast beef and everything...thanks! ^_^

Also if anyone knows of any good websites for nice looking gowns please let me know. I've been shopping around and there are plenty of dresses that I like but they either cost way to much or they don't have my size when they are on sale. I don't want a dress that really costs over $100, I know to look in diffrent shops..Come to think Of it I can make my dress myself..(yes, I know how to sew lol)

Sounds really good! Maybe on one of the walls you could hand a black sheet and have silver glitter all over it. Claire's would also have good accesories for you. I'm loving the theme and decoration ideas. If you have a DEB near you, they have EXCELLENT dresses to choose from. Whether you want a floor-length dress or a short one. I just bought a white one today with black all over it.. on sale for a third of the original price! It was only $20 today. Hope this helps! -Jordin Joy

Wow, i'm doing this for my sweet 16 too. A good outlet online store is nexteve.com.. they've got some gorgeous gowns. And I've seen some of the same gowns other places and on those sites they run for like 200 dollars more.. i haven't seen dress over 159 though, and i've been looking for two weeks. So I would try there.

I know what your going through, my sister is turning 16 in July and we are doing the same theme. Well your guests are 15, 16 right? I understand the black and white outfits but if you want them to have fun let them atleast eat what they want! No offense but im 14 and I would not want roastbeef! Have stations! One station sushi ,one station pizza, one station tacos and more! With that your guests will remember it forever. Also lets talk dancing, girls are gonna want to kick off their heels and dance barefeet.Well my sister got planters warts ( a virus in your feet)from doing that.So get dancing socks with grips at the bottom saying happy sweet 16! They are a hit.To get people dancing you need and awsome DJ different music(slow and fast) and ,my favorite, balloon people! Go to a balloonist and ask if they can make a person with wieghts in it.Have the person be black silver or white, I suggest black so you dont see the wieghts. If your party is in summer than have it in a tent or a hall with lights in curtains,if it's in the winter i suggest either home or at a hall.Order some masquerade people to get the guests in the feeling. Also the party should be at night nothing ruins the mood more than an afternoon or morning! Happy sweet 16! And i wish you luck!

um well im doing the same thing actually its this saturday.. i would go with the name "Unmask the Night" because masquerade is commen and the colors you picked are elligent for the Phantom of the opera i think though just sayin a good idea would be using red roses to represent the love the phantom has for Christien and the love Christien and her true love share i mean the whole part of the movie is the tragic of the love between the Phantom and Christien but just sayin, anyway, your cake if ur havin one should be a triple layer cake white with black roses and if u do the red rose u could have a big red rose on top of the cake... For decoration you could buy some poster board and cut out mask patterns and paint, glitter, or design them anyway you like... Its fun and cheap also you get to get creative with your own ideas so it has a uniqueness to it... For your lettering i'd use old english and old lettering so it gives it that old elligency...
