It really just depends, different people are affected differently. I would get a pregnancy test to make sure. Good Luck. ↑

My first pregnancy my breasts ached right away and did for the first month or so. I am now 6 1/2 weeks pregnant and am experiencing the same thing. Every woman is different but the majority of woman I talk to all say that the nipples ache and tinkle. I hope this helps and yes the best thing is to go to your DR and find out for sure. ↑

I started thinking I might be pregnant when I noticed the changes of my breasts. That really hurts! Especially on both sides. Areola were swollen as well. I had to check with my mom if that was one of the signs and she said yes. Then I had a home preg test and it turned out positive. Had a sched with my OB after 2 days and she confirmed I was 5 weeks expecting at that very moment. ↑

I'm pretty sure you've already found out your answer, but thought I'd add my 2 cents. Some women may have harsh menstrual cycles which come with swollen and tender breasts. Hope things turned out ok. ↑
