ummmmm speaking from experience, stress is a BIg factor concerning milk supply. I was in your same position a while back (different stress but it's all relative ya know) and had to start supplementing with formula once or twice a day. I'm not promoting formula if it's not what you want, it was just what I chose to do. And yous eem really busy and going, going...it may relieve some stress so that someone else could help ya know. I'll be praying for your situation....just keep persevering. And by the way acutal nursing/bf stimulates lactation better than pumping so if you can take a day like Melissa suggested it wouldn't hurt but I can hear you laughing....yeah right...you don't even have a minute. :-) ↑ |

When I first had Anthony, I was taking Lamictal, so I didn't start out breastfeeding. So he is used to formula already. I try to nurse, but it hurts most of the time. When i go out, the baby goes with me so I don't leave his daddy home with him, the 3 yr old, and the 4 yr old, cause he'd go totally nuts. Jamie had tonsilitis (sp?) and got put on meds for it and it's getting better (#2). They found a drug that dad can take and not get sick, so he's getting better now (#3). Mom is still in the hospital being taken care of. She had part of her leg amputated and has a blister on her stump that got infected (#4). I think I have a job when I can go to work (#5). So my stress is being taken care of but I think it might be too late. I'd like to breastfeed, but I think I have to stick with formula. ↑ |

please don't give up. it is never too late to get your supply up. i know adoptive mothers who have never even been preg. that have nursed their adoptive children. so it is possible to get your supply back up. have you tried oatmeal? also i have heard that blessed thistle works well too. as for the sore nips there are many things you can do to help that out. one of the easiest things is once you are done nursing squeeze your nipple and rub a little of your milk all over them. then let them air dry. breastmilk has antibodies in them that will help them heal. also you can use lanolin on them. if you look at a walmart type store or drug store you can find some for breastfeeding mothers that you don't have to wash off be for nusing. also at those kind of stores you can find a product called soothies. they are jell filled little packs that are formed in the shape of a breast and you put them in the fridge or freezer then place them inside your bra. also i just wanted to say that breastfeeding doesn't have to be a all or nothing type of thing. you can still breastfeed while giving formula. any breastmilk is good. even if you only do it a couple times of day and the babe gets formula the rest they are still getting all those good antibodies. hope some of this helps and good luck. i really hope that you stick with it! ↑ |

I'm still trying and still not getting much. But the point is, he's getting something at least. I'm up to about 1 ounce a day now, and I'm going to keep trying. ↑ |

I have been nursing him more and trying to get it up that way. And thank you for the advice. I really appreciate it. I just wish it would release some more of the relaxing hormones ;-) !! ↑ |
