Hello everyone. My name is Karen and I am a 26 year old mom to six beautiful girls ages 7, 6,4,2, and twins are 3 months old from Texas. I have been breastfeeding each child every day many times a day because after talking with my doctor he has suggested to me that it is fine to breastfeed my children until around ten or twelve years old. I found this interesting thus I have continued breastfeeding each of my children at home, through pumping, and in public. I have found the health benefits for my daughters and I to be great, and I was wondering how many other people do something similar? Please share your thoughts and I hope to hear from you soon.

If you were breastfeeding to this extent then how come you've become pregnant?

how do you have the milk supply to satisfy six hungry children? when you say health benefits do you mean from sucking on dry breasts??? by the time the twins are done with the boobs the milk is gone and your boobs are dry for a while? what ever you choose to say be realistic!!!

Momofsix,
You plan on breastfeeding your kids till they are 10 or 12? It's your own personal decision, and your children, and I'm sure it's probably good for them healthwise ... but if anyone turned to me and told me they was breastfed past the age of 3 I'd raise my eyebrows. But up to 10 or 12, I'd find it repulsive.

Even animals don't continue feeding after their young are capable of eating solids, even when they are producing milk for younger siblings. The mother pushes them away whe they are weaned; it's nature.

I think that once a child is capable of having a balanced diet on solids, which is normally around 2-years-old then the days of milk are over, especially breastmilk. They should be weaned.

However, it's your decision and I wish you luck. It's just not something I personally agree with.
