didnt your doctor tell you that it was safe? Im sure he wouldnt have put you on it if it wasnt. i had antibiotics when i was breastfeeding...i think it gets passed on but in such a diluted state that it wont affect the baby..but i would still ask give your dr a bell..You have already had an appointment with him im sure you dont need to revisit him just for confirmation.
good luck ↑ |
Actually, I was more worried about the being sick part than the meds part I think. I know it didn't seem like it from the way I said it tho. I was just wondering if he will get sick since I am sick. ↑
there's a good chance yor baby will get sick, only because you're touching him all the time and you're around eachother, not because you're breastfeeding him. The best way to avoid him getting sick is to wash your hands ALL the time, and try not to kiss him too much. I got strep throat when my baby was 4 months old and I went on amoxicillin and just tried washing my hands as much as possible, I even bought some hand sanitizer at wal mart, and she ended up just fine! :-) hope this helps!! ↑
Actually if you are breastfeeding and you get sick first before you baby does, then your body makes antibodies to fight it off and to make sure you don't get that same strand of your cold or whatever again. so these anitbodies are passed through your milk and your baby has a less chance of getting sick and if they do then it won't be as bad as if they weren't getting the milk. my son is 13 months old and has only been sick 3 times in his life. of course those 3 times he got if from his daddy before i got sick. the antibodics that the doc prescribed shouldn't affect the little one either. just keep nursing as normal. hope this helps and good luck. oh and feel better soon! ↑
A couple days after my baby was born (6 months ago), I developed an infection on the right side of my incision...doctor put me on amoxicillin and he was fully aware of my breastfeeding as Wyatt got hungry while I was waiting to see the doc, and he walked in while I was feeding him hehe :) Also, about a month ago, Wyatt developed an ear infection and was put on Amoxicillin :( Both of us got some bad diarrhea from it, but that was about the only negative I think. Doc also told me to keep breastfeeding when either of us was sick with a cold or flu. Hope this helps, and I hope you are feeling better soon. ↑
