Here is the story. I'm 19 (20 in two months) but I am almost 7 weeks pregnant. I want to breastfeed but I am on a variety of medications. I am Epileptic and I have a Cyst on the Medulla of my brain. But you can't nurse on those medications. But I think breast feeding would be the best for my baby. Is there anyway once I start producing milk if I can pump it before I get back on the medications once I have the baby?

how do u know that you can't take the medication? has the doc told you this? there are alot of medicnes that the doctors don't think you can take but you actually can. they don't teach docs much about breastfeeding in medical school so unless they are specially trained alot of times they just tell you that you can't take them just to be safe. i suggest going to www.breastfeeding.com and go to the message boards and asking if it is safe to take the type of medicne that you are on. there are several ladies there that have the Hale's book. Dr. Hale is an expert on medication that is safe for preg and breastfeeding women. for example i had oral surgery when my son was 4 months old and my surgeon told me that i couldn't breastfeed for 12 hrs after surgery because of the stuff they put me under with. turns out that i could have, so i had to pump and dump for no reason. i'm still sad about all that wasted milk and that was almost a year ago. hope that this has helped. and good luck with the rest of your preg.!
