So I was planning on going on the IUD but my insurance does not cover it. So my options are the mini-pill (I'm breastfeeding) or there is a Canadian IUD that my Dr.s office can order. It only lasts 18 months, which is fine since that's probably when I'll start trying for a second. But it's lacking progesterian, which I guess means that I can have break through bleeding, it however is only $175 as opposed to $700 for the Merina (??) IUD. Anyone have any thoughts on which is the better option or anyone used the non-progesterian IUD It's name is "T" something....?

It's probably a CopperT. I have a copper IUD with no progesterone. It's great! I have no problems with heavy periods or cramping at all. I'd give the copper one a go if I were you.

Oh, and an IUD that has no progesterone doesn't cause breakthrough bleeding - you might get some slight spotting for the first few weeks, but I've never experienced this problem.
