I am pregnant with my 2nd baby. I did not bf with my first cause I didnt have support from the people around me. My daughter had lots of problems on formula and I regreted not bf her. This baby I want to at least try. But I am afraid to breast feed. I have very large breasts and I am honestly afraid I will smother my baby. I have considered pumpming and then feeding but I have a friend that says it is really time consuming. Do you ladies have any advise or is there any books I should read? (sorry if this isnt where i should post this) ↓

Post were you want to army_wife - I for one don't mind...but this is a great forum for your question. I have somewhat large breasts...large D's, could go DD if I had too, and I was also worried about smothering Wyatt. I never have tho, even when I have fallen asleep with him sucking away...I was however a little more careful when he was newborn though. I have this great book from my sis-in-law on breastfeeding...author is Dr. Jack Newman I think, but I will have to check on that. I just tried to find it but we are boxing up stuff to get our house ready for sale, and I think I might have packed it already :( Anyhoot, good luck with the BF'ing...it is sooo worth it if you are able. I am going to miss it as we are starting to wean now....ahhh I guess I will just have to have another one :) ↑
My breasts are an F cup! yes they make bras that size, it's rediculous. anyways....i was scared about that too, but when they're first born you'll notice that their nose is kind of smushed, like their nostrils point more downward, so they can still breathe, and the nurse just showed me how to pull back a bit of the boob just above her nose. And once they learn how to breastfeed well, if they can't breathe they just pull off your boob. It's just a natural reaction. When you have the baby, there should be a lactation consultant at the hospital who can help you out and you can contact the Laleche League. I don't know if that's spelled right. Anyways, breastfeeding is a totally natural thing that people have been doing for years and years and years with all kinds of sizes of breasts. Just keep trying and don't give up. You're boobs are gonna hurt like hell at the beginning, but they get better. ↑
oh yeah and ask your doctor if there are any classes you can take about breastfeeding. In the town I live in, at the Health Unit, they put on a free class all about breastfeeding. It was so informative and really prepared me for it!! anyways....look into that too!!! ↑
Before pregnancy and breastfeeding I would wear a 34F bra. At the late stage of pregnancy and early on in breastfeeding I had to increase to a 36G fitting bra - still lacy and pretty ! ! !
I have been breastfeeding for 8 months with no problems and hope to continue.
Good luck ! ↑ |
Thanks I am currently in a G and those are getting too small already. I will be looking into the book and also a group but I dont think they have one here (we are stationed in Germany) but I will ask thank you all ↑
Well I was really nervous as well you know the baby can breath with his/her little spaces that there is between the breast and its nose I use to worry also, get the what to expect the 1st year book I love it and I live by it. I really love bf I really really do. I hope you try it ↑
I am a DD and I was scared at first also (plus the newness of huge boobs - I was a C cup pre-pregnancy). I squishes her nose, but babies noses are designed to be squished and able to breath, just for nursing!!! A great way for support is through the La Leache League, can give you a lot of great advice before your baby is born and great support afterwards!!! ↑
