HI girls... I am the one who was discussing bf at 15 months and thought I might be pregnant. well turns out i'm not. i got my period after 37 days... SO I assume it may take a few months til I am regular again. Thanks to all of you with all your advice and saying how great it was that I was bf'ing so long. I appreciate your compliments. Really I do. Like I said most people sort of frown upon it. and well they have no idea what it's like to have such a bond for so long.... even ones who have breastfed in the past have no idea how the bond changes over time. Breastfeeding and infant and breastfeeding a toddler are very different in so many ways!] It's very rewarding!... Anywho I was away so that's why I have not responded. Went to brother-in-laws wedding. And hubby and my 2 year anniv. was the day after and guess waht!?... I got my period that day!!!! Ugh... but makes me feel better now I can start keeping track! ;) yeah, bye girls

Hi Amanda! I answered on the other thread. My daughter just hopped off my lap from nursing, and headed into the livingroom. It really is very different nursing a toddler vs an infant. The bond is different also. My first had to be weanted at 18mo since I was heading into jaw surgery. For reasons I'll always regreat (selfish), I weaned my first daughter at 5mo. My youngest daughter, I plan to let her nurse for as long as she would like, contrary to what others seem to think, they REALLY will not nurse forever :P LOL

We are working on manners though, such as mommy's not going to drop at a moments notice to nurse, so she's working on patience and how to ask nicely. She looooves "them" and calls them hers, with a grin :P Tonight when she climbed into my lap she wrapped her arms around me and hugged me as she started to nurse :) The only thing I don't care for, is her playing with "them" with her feet, LOL - one thing I dont allow, lol

If you were TTC, check out the monitor :) Worked, first time this time (again).

That's so funny Stardreams! I seriously got a good laugh at that. I'm breastfeeding my 11 week old baby and yes the bond is amazing and I know will only get stronger over time, but I can totally picture the playing with feet and whatnot LMAO! My little one already uses her hands and kinda holds them and stuff. I usually put my hand where she can hold one of my fingers. It's just so cute to watch them nurse. I love it! But thanks for the laugh even though it wasn't intended for me. ♥, Christina (Farah's mom)

Haha Farah, I'm sure you'll love this time :) It does get exhausting after a while, but well worth it. The one thing that has always bothered me (ouch!) is while nursing on one side she LOVES to hold the other nipple, kinda like a security blanket.... although she's learned how to hold it gently now, it hasn't always been so. She'd pinch and roll it, she knew no different, LOL. I use to keep the other side covered, but now she's old enough to lift it up herself. Geeeeentle sweetheart. She's learning though :)

The other cute thing she startetd recently, is sharing "them" with her doll. She'd place the doll on, saying to me she was hungry, and make the sucking sound, LOL Silly girl :P

You are absolutely right. The bond is different but just as precious. I reluctantly weaned my daughter only because I was pregnant again. I plan on nursing this baby until he/she is 2 yrs old.

It is quite a shame with this country's attitude with breastfeeding, especially with toddlers. I wish you the best of luck with nursing your daughter for as long as you want :)

I keep my other breast covered too, mine will grab but she doesn't really know what she's doing. She either holds on to my finger or she holds on to the top of my tank tops. That's so funny how she holds the other nipple and actually reaches for it! Someone else said that they do stuff like that because it gets the milk flowing. Mine already flows too fast at times and it makes my baby mad and then she'll pop the nipple out of her mouth and my milk will go squirting everywhere and in her face too. I wipe it off and think oh well they say a milk bath is good for us right? lol.
So do any of you have any luck with feeding bm in a bottle? I tried the other day and my 11 week old kept pushing the nipple out with her tongue and crying. She even spit my milk out! I plan on breastfeeding her until she weans herself, but it would be nice to know she'd take a bottle in case of an emergency. Plus I have lot's of breastmilk in the freezer that will be wasted, being it's only good for about 3 months.
