I have a nearly 12 month old and want to wean him off the breast. I would like to have another baby and as yet have not had a period. I am not on any contraceptive so the only thing I can deduce is that the breast feeding is working as a contraceptive for me. My son eats solids all day and I dont seem to have a problem getting him to eat solids. He breastfeeds at lunchtime to go to sleep, late afternoon, bedtime and 2 or 3 times through the night. The only feed I've been able to wean him from is the morning feed and wake-up feed.

I had the same issue and i figured it was cos i was breast feeding. i tried to conceive when she turned 12 months.. it just did not work. mine was 15 months when it happened at last but i gradually reduced the night time feeding specifically and eventually i breastfed once a day. If you are home all the time its harder to resist the nagging. make sure you provide other forms of fluids to supplement. It was not easy but i also introduced regular milk at 12 month in a bottle, (warm )and i gave while she was asleep. Her belly was full and she was satisfied she slept all night. just continue weaning gradually it caused me some discomfort when i weaned too fast so i had to slow down.

Since he isn't nursing that often and you are supplementing with other things the nursings that you are doing shouldn't be the cause of not getting preg. Just relax and let your body worry about it.
