My first child a daughter is 14 months and i breastfed exclusively for 7 months. She still nurses a lot mostly before naps and like 6 times a day and at night on demand although she eats table food i feel that she is just addicted to breastmilk. Well I have been trying to have another baby since the time she turned nine months but up to now i havent been successful. Is this because i,m breastfeeding a lot.???. I,m planning on breastfeeding while pregnant. anybody had this issue while breastfeeding and trying to conceive? any advice?... by the way i wanna say everyone has been very helpful on the breastfeeding forum i read alot of topics and the advice is just awesome...

have you gotten your peroid back yet? does she still nurse at night? some women can get preg. no matter how much they nurse, some have to night wean and some can't concieve until their babies have completly weaned. sorry this is just one of those "every woman is different" kind of thing.

your baby is not addicted to your breastmilk. my son still nurses that much also. she is getting all the antibodies and nurtients still. also it is very comforting for toddlers to nurse. they can go out on their own and explore but know that if they get scared or hurt can come right back and nurse. i have found that it is the only time my son will even let me hold him anymore.

yes i got my period after the 7th month. the crazy part is i tried testing with ovulation detection test kit and it was negative from day 10 all the way to day 16...of my cycle. i did this for three months and gave up i guess to me nursing has a birth control kind of thing effect. next baby will have to wait coz i cannot even start thinking of weaning although everyone says i should.

i also hear the weaning thing constantly. got my son a shirt that says "i'm no weaner!" good luck with trying to concieve.
