I've had trouble losing weight after each of my children. If you've tried everything else and nothing works, once you are done breastfeeding, see your regular doctor and ask for Phentermine (sp?). If you haven't taken a lot of weight loss medication in the past, this is great for helping the baby weight go away. Just keep up the walks, too!

Melinda,
with my first I gained 75 lbs! But I was terribly thin in my youth too, so I wanted to hang on to 15 lbs of it, lol.
I did drop the 60 lbs by continuing nursing and doing water aerobics and walking everyday. It just took a few months longer then I would have liked. But it is more important now that your baby gets the proper nutrition in your milk then it is for you to lose weight fast (which we all have difficulty doing anyways, baby or not)

The walking is truly the best. And keep nursing, it increases your metabolism giving you more bang for your exercise, sort of speaking, lol.

Eat healthy, well balanced meals, and do not let your calorie intake fall below 1500! You are still eating for two! Trust Time to take off the pounds, for it will as long as you keep exercising at least 30 minutes a day and eating fresh vegetables and proper amounts of protein. Also do not try to eliminate all fats from your diet, your milk production needs that too.

As for my other experiences, with my second, I gained 60 lbs, and lost all of it in 6 months with the same method, walking and water aerobics.
My third, many many years later, I was overweight (due to the stress of a housefire) to begin with and was kept in check throughout my pregnancy, due to gestational diabetes, so I only gained 25 lbs. I dropped it all in 3 months and then some, walking, and climbing 25 flights of steps 3 times a week.

I still have a ways to go though to get back down to where I was in my twenties when I had my first two, lol.

Good luck!

Just wanted to say that I am always hungry too while breastfeeding. I didn't lose any weight with either of my 2 kids while breastfeeding. Some women lose while breastfeeding and some womens bodies hold on to fat when producing milk. Once I quit breastfeeding I dropped 20 lbs in a couple months. Everybody is different. Eat healthy, exercise, and enjoy breastfeeding! God Bless.

I gained too much too but don't worry about losing it. mine all comes off when I am done nursing. Someone told me once that for some women the hormones present while breastfeeding makes it hard to lose weight.

hey it might sound a little radical but i realy know something that will make all the extra weight melt off......will enable you to open the frigde any time of the day (not that you will be craving food as much) and you will not ever feel guilty about that piece or two of chocolate cake!!!!! sound good hey well it is and its called jogging!!! i just had two babies in 2 years and like you put on weight and tried to walk it off...yer right it was not till i picked up the pace this last five months the weight has dissolved i've toned up and i get a little break from babies(not best to jog with pram it can cause neck or back problems) i look better now than before the babis when smoking drinking and party were the norm...by the way i am still breastfeeding so go to your local bra shop buy a good sports bra(burlei is best)and give it a go....did i mention endorphines??????
