Hello, my son is 8 weeks old and has refused from the start to take the breast. I have a hospital pump that I have been renting. I am pumping allllll his bottles. I get three ounces and have to supplement with 1 oz of fourmula. I was told that my milk will not last using the pump only. I really want my son to have the benefits of breast milk and do not want to lose my milk. I have been taking Mothers milk tea with Fennel Fenugreek and blessed thistle. He is colic. and now doesn't have a bowel movement for two to three days.
I am really concerned and do not know how to get him to take the breast. The two occasions that he did take it he did not latch on correctly and it hurt, I did not stop him because I was thrilled that he was trying. However he won't go for at all anymore. Does anyone know how I can keep my milk just pumping? ↓

have you seen a lactation consultant at all? i have heard of quite a few women that have just pumped and have been able to do so for a full year. breastfed babies can go up to 10 days without a bowel movement before doctors get worried. have you tried different bottles that will make him less gassy? this could be why he is so fussy. here are a few links that i hope help. i wish that this website you could just post them so you could just click on the but you can. just copy and paste them into your address bar.

Hey debra my son is now 5 and 1/2 wks he was premie and has only been home for a week and 2 days now. he had a feeding tube in for the first couple wks then the bottle and i didn't get to nurse him till he was almost 3wks and he didn't want to take my breast cause he was so use to the bottle nipple and the nurse gave me nipple sheilds they are great. they are clear very thin and are shaped and feel like a bottle nipple it fits right over you nipple ask your doctor or the lactation person to see if you can get some not sure if they sell them in stores. now he takes the breast with out it i would try it with out sometimes before using the sheild and it seemed to get him use to it. ↑
