Hello Allyson,
Chances are good you will be tender the first week of nursing, but your nipples toughen up, and you will be too busy looking at how gorgeous your baby's eyes which will be looking right up at you, to even pay attention to the discomfort. (Did you know that studies have shown that the distance between a nursing baby's eyes and it's mother's eyes is the same distance that a baby can see best? Mother Nature knows what she is doing! Trust her over some formula company who's main goal is to make money.)
I would be very surprised if you cried even once, much less every time.
Do not let the horror stories sway you, for the benefits of breastfeeding for both you and your baby outweigh the initial soreness you may feel at the beginning, and you will never ever regret giving your child the best start (s)he can ever have.
Google La Leche League and pull up their website, it will direct you to FAQ (frequently asked questions) and if you would like more info, call the leader nearest to your location. Their phone numbers are listed and they will be absolutely delighted to take your call, you do not have to be a member. ↑ |
