I gave birth to our son November 5th 2006 breast and feeding is going great. I am pregnant again. I have gotten conflicting info from medical professionals as well as the internet and friends. Here are my 2 questions
1: Is there an increased chance of miscarriage if I continue to nurse my son.(9 weeks old)
2: I understand breast milk changes as a baby gets older. Becomes less dense and different nutritional values. When I give birth and start nursing the new baby will that be a problem?
I would appreciate hearing from Moms who have tandum nursed or are currently nursing different aged babies.

I'm not nursing two at the same time, but from what I hear is that it's really up to the individual, whether you're comfortable doing it or not. I've read that as long as you eat lots of healthy food and keep healthy, usually there isn't a problem nursing while pregnant. I would just keep an eye on baby and make sure he's not loosing any weight and doesn't look sickly, like malnourished or whatever. Every woman is different so, it's kind of more of a personal thing, or whatever your body decides to do. My daughter is 8 months old and I'm 4 months pregnant, and when I got pregnant, I stopped producing milk completely. My hormones just reacted differently to it I guess. But I have heard of lots of women breastfeeding while pregnant!! So, I would say, as long as you can, just keep at it!!
Also, Congrats on being pregnant again!!! YAY!!!

I nursed twins it can be tricky at first but once you get the hang of it its easy. The hardest part is getting them attached, I had my hubby help, but after a while they just do it themselves.

I hope that you check this again...I just went through the same thing. My daughter was 2 months when I got pregnant with my third and had lots of questions with bf and whatnot...anyways...my son is now 10 weeks and my daughter is 13 months and both are perfect.

My doctor told me that I wouldn't be at any higher risk then if I stopped bf...unless you had had a miscarriage before. iI does stimulate your uterus and at times I could feel it but hardly ever really...maybe once or twice. Your milk will slowly drecrease the further you go along so your baby that's nursing now my have to supplement later on (which we had to do) and then may decide to wean all together b/c the taste and everythin changes. I know it's so crazy that you are bf and pregnant but your milk will actually go away and then start all over as colostrum. But the body knows what to do ya know. :-) Hey I could give you more advice if you need it. I read and read about all of it and talked to my dr and the ped. so let me know if you need anything else.
