I am just starting a divorce but already I see a major issue. My husband says that he can prevent me from moving more than 50 miles away with the kids. My family lives about 130 miles away, but in the same state. I really don't have any support down here where we live and I don't know what I would do if one of the kids got sick. They are 2 and 5 and I'm a teacher. Can he really prevent me from moving closer to my family?

Nope he can not stop you from moving if you move before any of the custody papers are filed. He can request that you nor him remove the children from the state you live in without prior notice to each party. But if you don't move or don't speak up in the court papers before the judge signs them he could slide into the papers and the judge might agree with him! JUST DON'T SIGN OR AGREE TO ANYTHING WITHOUT READY EVERY TINY WORD.
