I am recently divorced. My daughter was about a year and half at the time and i was expecting my second. My main concern is for my little girl. She is now almost 3 and she was very close to her dad. I have tried to keep him involved in her life, but he makes it really difficult. i have bent over backwards to accommodate him, but it seems that everything i do (which i do only for my daughter) is not enough. He refuses to pay maintenance and eventually i got so infuriated with his attitude that i told him to stay away from my daughter and if he wishes to see her, he can apply to do so through normal legal channels. i really want to avoid the whole legal battle, but at the same time, i feel that it is important for me to stand up to him. i dont know whether i am doing the right thing and would really appreciate feedback from other parents who have experienced similar problems.

Does your daughter ask about him? Is she upset when she doesn't see him? I am assuming that he was a good dad, if she was very close to him. So why does he not care for her now?
