Well having been thorugh a dicorce and custody and all that I know that a judge never likes to take any child away from their mother. Its going to be hard for your ex to prove you unfit unless you a a drug addict or something like that. If you dont mind me asking, what grounds is he going on. If hes just doing it to try it make it harder on you then he isnt going to get anywhere but if he has proof of you being unfit then its all up to the court to decide.

Hi Jess. First off, don't let this overly worry you. It would take more than you could possibly imagine for your ex to prove you as unfit, especially if there's nothing significant you can come up with to justify his position. Unfortunately for some children, there are cases of parents being proved "fit" even when parental drug abuse and prostitution are involved. If you truly are concerned, be proactive. Write up a list of things you think he could hit you with and talk to an attorney or legal aid for a professional opinion. Good luck!

He's threatening to take your child from you and you're still pregnant? That's sick. He's an abuser - you and your baby should get away from him as fast as possible.

How can a man threaten to take a womans baby from her when she's still pregnant? What's he going to do? Wait outside the delivery room door? What a sick piece of scum he must be!

Look, its gonna be messy. My dad told my mom when they split he would never take the kids if she just gave him everything, and she did. A while later when i was eight... he took me and my sister away. Now im 13 living with my dad. Even though ur child is unborn you are still the mother. Ur ex is an ass like my dad and i think you should get ready for hell, sorry t say, get a very good lawyer, don't get Judge Presley and make sure you have more money than him... hope that helps.. and please, just because im 13 doesn't mean you can't listen to this... i really hope thing helps

I am going through a divorce right now, and I'm not sure how it's going to work out. My ex is wanting to have joint legal and physical custody of our 4 year old daughter. I dont' agree with it at all, however I have a feeling that is how it will be. I do not drive, and am not able to transport our daughter places and also I have had many suicide attempts in my life, haven't attempted for two years now, but it's still on my record. I love my daughter, but he isn't ready to have her half the time. He likes to still have fun and party and go traveling, I'm not sure how safe he is with our daughter. He has left my daughter with a friend of his by herself and says there is nothing wrong with it, because the guy was his friend. When I mention anything, he always brings my suicide attempts back and says I don't have a chance of custody. I want Joing legal custody but I want physical custody of my 4 year old daughter. Any ideas?
