Yes!
Hello!!
Of course it does. But apparently children are sweet enough to make us want to go through it again! :)

Of course, but there are lots of drugs that you can use to ease the pain. Once your little baby is out, you instantly forget all the pain, it's amazing. I have 3 children, and I did not use any drugs with any of them, and they were good size babies too (8lb 15oz, 9lb 8oz & 8lb 13oz), I am also considered "petite", so I say if I can do it and handle the pain, anyone can! Everyone does handle pain different though.

I had our first baby in May and was induced. I thought I would go w/o drugs..hahaha If you choose to have an epidural you don't feel anything except pressure. After birth I felt great no real pain anywhere except in my back, slightly from the epidural. From that moment on I felt good but do your kegels!!!

I was sooooo scared of having my first child I swore that if I didn't have an epidural that I would die. I was to far dilated for an epidural by the time I got to the hospital and I pushed for 2 1/2 hours...it was hard but your body is made for it. I'm pregnant again and due in October (my daughter is 18months) and I'm going for this delivery without an epidural it's all in your mind and women are very strong. Your delivery will only hurt until you see the end result a beautiful baby. Good luck.

I feel so sorry for all those mothers with their horror stories, but I must say, if you get the epidural you are golden. I just had my first baby on July 7th and was probably in actual uncomfortable pain for at most a half hour. As soon as my doctor checked me and said I was at 3 cm, he said I could get the epidural and it was beautiful from there on out. Pushing was a breeze because you can still feel the pressure, but you feel no pain at all. Good Luck! I hope you have just as wonderful an experience.

I went into the hospital with my first and decided I was not having ANY drugs--- ( I hate needles) funny since I worked in a hospital lab for years... Anyway--I ended up haveing a little bit of stadol and it put me RIGHT to sleep....I didn't like that because then I had to wake up for every contraction...and after he was born--I felt really tired and yucky... Then I had my second child and WOW---she came FAST!!! I was at a 4 when they decided to break my water and I dialated and delivered her in 30 minutes.. Talk about not having time for drugs---Well, my point is, that was the most pain I have ever had-BUT--let me tell you this, after she was out---I felt like I could run a mile around the hosp. You just feel great when there are not any drugs in your system. I say, if you can---go without. I understand that ever delivery is different and somtimes you don't have choice in the matter.
Good luck...

Who is this girl?!(Shante) How do you prevent dying during pregnancy! Don't get pregnant before your at least 20 then your parents won't kill you! I am 21 and just found out I'll be having my first in April, and I still think I'm a bit too young! Any "boy" you have a baby with when your 16 is not going to want the child or you in his life!!! Then you've pretty much sealed the deal that you and your baby will be below the poverty line! Unless your parents have lots of money and are willing to help you! Take a look around your house. Are your parents rich? Are they willing to support you and raise another child?

Anyway the real reason I came here was to find out exactly how much blood work and poking and prodding is involved in this whole pregnancy thing! I am so scared, I faint when I get blood work done! Is it really that bad? I know I have to do it so that my baby is healthy but if anyone has any words of encouragment or is going through the same fear that I am let me know. Thanx!!

Shawna dear--I can feel your pain kinda :) I worked in a hospital lab for years and HATE needles. I have seen people faint many times. I myself get a little "sweaty palms" when I have to have mine done! I can tell you this though--if you are having a "normal pregnancy" you won't have your blood drawn that many times. They take the most from you really when you have the baby. I remember the worse part of having my son was the IV they put in. That is how much I hate needles! The best thing I can tell you is, when you go in to have your blood drawn--think of other things. Take someone in there to talk to you the entire time. That always works for me. I know the people who draw my blood, so we just start talking about something and I focus on what they are talking about. It doesn't work for everyone--but stay strong and I wish you luck!

This is second baby after. It's weird but I'm scared for the pain. I was induced on my first with some narcotic. I scared of the epidural.

OHHHHHHHHHHH YES IT HURTS... But we forget!!! (STUPID WOMEN THAT WE ARE). I am due number 5 in Dec and I am dreading it. When you have your first you never really know what to expect, but by the time you get to number 5 (and they get worse as you go along) you know exactly what to expect and 13 weeks off delivering I am not looking forward to it at all.....

My husband asked me what it felt like when I was in labor. I looked at him and said it would feel better to get run over and dismembered by a train. I'm not sure why I used that comparison but those were my thoughts at the time.

Toshia, LOVE your response! I feel the same. I was in labor for 12 hours before I got to the hospital... I finally decided to go when my water broke and I soaked the bed! Anyway, once I got there, I was in hard labor for 3.5 hours with no drugs before my daughter was born. I was having back labor so it felt like no pain I can even begin to explain. Yes, being run over by a train time and time again would probably feel better.

I had my first last october and had decided from day one that I would go natural...however the further along I got I realized I needed an acceptable plan b that I could still feel good about. The night I went into labor it went very very quick. I went from my water breaking to hard contractions in 1/2 hr. I opted to have a shot of stadol to calm my nerves and keep me from getting an epidural. I really have no complaints about it. I still felt like I was aware of all of the pain and able to feel the natual flow of labor, however I was able to relax between contractions and about 1 1/2 hrs later it had started to wear off and it was time for me to push. I know I didn't do it all natural so to speak but I was able to go without an epidural and to this day I feel great about my decision. I am due with my second in May and don't plan on doing it any differently. Yes it hurts and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Yes, very, very much but if you are having twins... don't go there

Yes, very, very much but if you are having twins... don't go there they go through your vagina it's discusting. Krystle if you want a kid so bad then have one, but if you do you might think about all of the pain it's like a be-be gun just shot your pe-pe, (OUCH!!!!!!)

shante: As a pregnant teenager (17) I know that you do not want to be pregnant at this age. You're whole life is ahead of you. Where will the money come from? The housing? Do you have a boyfriend that isn't going to leave? There's so much to consider. I live at home with my parents and my boyfriend lives at home with his mom. Our baby is going to live in two different homes and I always dreamed of the "perfect" family living space. Wait until you're at least out of high school. I was really concerned about the pain with my first pregnancy because I don't have a very high thesh hold for pain. I had told my husband that whether or not we had a second would depend on how bad the pain was. Right after delivering my daughter, I turned to my husband and told him that I could definitely do it again. The nurses and doctor were laughing. I was induced and in labor for 6 hours and pushed for half an hour. And here I am expecting my second child. After that, my philosophy has been that God gives you what he knows you can handle. I REALLY can't handle much pain!!! LOL

yeh it hurts but not as bad as you think about 80% out of 100

Name: shakeriah | Date: Nov 7th, 2005 7:34 PM
My question is, does it hurt? I'm a 16 year old in the 11th grade. I am due any day after November 14, 2005. And I'm nervous about the feeling. Will it hurt, to the point that I wouldn't want to have anymore children in the future?

childbirth is defiantely painful but i only had pain meds with my first the went on to have 3 more without any. in my situation my labor was only unbearable in about the last half hour and by then its way too late for any pain med. but make sure you decidee early enough too if you want the meds because it may be too late
