I had an ob appointment today and my doctor checked me because I lost part of my mucous plug over the weekend, she said that my cervix is extremely soft (it was "hard as a rock" 2 weeks ago), but she also said that my cervix is funneling. She said it's unusal for that to happen with someone who had already given birth, especially by c-section. She didn't go into detail on it so I looked it up when I got home and it says that my cervix is dilating from the top and the bag of water could slip down. Anyone else have this, it's all new to me? She also said the baby should do just fine if I went into labor tonight, but she doesn't think I will, but she said I'm progressing. They are waiting til my next appt in 2 weeks to schedule my csection, she said that is if I haven't had the baby by then. I'm kind of freaking out because she kind of made it sound like I could go into labor at any time, I guess I better finish getting things ready just in case, lol.

According to my ob I am 34 weeks due May 19th, according to my the specialist I've been seeing for low lying placenta I'm due May 10th. I am barely 1 cm on the outside and she didn't say how far on the inside. They did a non stress test and the baby's heart rate is great and I'm contracting but nothing strong or regular.

I had Kadin at 38 weeks and the only complication with that pregnancy was pre-eclampsia which I have been lucky enough to avoid this time around. Most of the stuff that has occured during this pregnancy is new to me and I feel like an idiot, lol, this pregnancy is so different from my first all the way around.

Are you having a girl this time?
the low lying placenta prob. has alot to do w/ it.....have they checked out the location of the placenta lately?
I delivered vaginally w/ my 4th child w/ a low lying placenta and it was a bloody nightmare literally i almost ended up w/ a hysterectomy at age 23.....not good

I'm having another boy. :-) They did another ultrasound a few weeks ago and they are still considering it low, but it moved a tiny bit and they aren't really concerned about it now, especially since I'm having a c-section. I was checked a couple weeks ago because I was spotting and my cervix was extremely hard and they didn't say anything about it funneling. I've been having a lot of pressure, sometimes it's hard to walk because it's so bad and I lost a little bit of my mucous plug over the weekend, plus the baby had dropped. I bet you freaked out when you started bleeding during delivery, thank god that you didn't have to have a hysterectomy, you were very lucky!!

I had never heard of this. This is very interesting information.

I never heard of a funneling cervix either, that's why I thought I'd ask here to see if anyone had experienced it because it's all new to me.

Thats good they weren't as concerned about yours anymore....why are you having another c-sec. anyway?

That's scary that you bled like that, luckily everything ended up being okay and you didn't have to have a hysterectomy, that would have been very hard. You were brave to have another baby after that experience, I thin I would have been too scared.

My ob highly recommended a repeat c-section for this delivery because of the fact that my pubic bone narrows and my first born never came all the way down, after 5 hours of pushing they ended up doing a c-section and she's pretty sure it will happen again if I try a vaginal delivery. Then with the placenta, even though it's moved slightly she still would rather be cautious which is okay with me.

I was actually advised not to have anymore because the once you bleed w/ deliveries w/ each delivery after the bleeding is worse and heavier......my midwife says.....anyhow, she took extra precation as soon as i delivered treated me w/ meds. to help me not bleed
