For my bday my hubby got me a mother to be day at the spa. I truly need it but I am very scared b/c I heard it can contribute to preterm labor. Any thoughts?

it depends on what they are using. i'd call the spa and ask about their different products, or if they have special regimens for pregnant women. when you find out if there are any herbal ingredients and such, call your doctor to check. most likely it will be ok, but better safe than sorry since some things can (rarely) trigger labor.

Not if the know what not to massage and how to do it. Now if it was a regular massage and not a pregnancy one I wouldnt reccomend it

go to babycenter.com and they have answers to these sort of questions. but here is the answer for you, i got it off the site

Is it safe to get a facial when I'm pregnant?
Expert: Cornelia Graves, associate professor of maternal fetal medicine, Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN

Absolutely. But since your skin is more sensitive now, you should be more careful about pulling and tugging on your face -- so ask the facialist to go easy. Pregnancy can also cause skin discolorations and increased visibility of blood vessels, so even if your facialist is gentle, you may be disappointed with the results.

I would say a standard facial is fine. You don't want to do anything like a body wrap that involves extensive heat that your body can't get rid of, since that can be dangerous to the baby. But wrapping just your face in a hot towel is fine.

Don't worry about a thing. Being that your hubby bought you a package specifically for Mom's to be all of the staff will know what they can and can't do. Any good spa will not hire anyone who has not gotten a degree in their specific field. Just go and enjoy yourself!
