like after baths...do i put lotion on his face or skip that area until he's cleared up? and does heat affect them cause they always seem to look worse after he nurses...like his cheeks and chin are redder

He gets them from nursing lol.. its your hormones going onto him..
my daughter got her PERIOD at 3 days old because of my breastmilk hormones.
Putting lotion on them is fine, Try useing " sensitive skin " washing liquid / powder when you wash his clothes ... and sensitive skin shampoo and soap etc...

it dosnt last forever, when the hormones in your body calm down after giving birth.. then his skin will go back to normal.

yeah i already use all the sensitive stuff because my girls' skin is so sensitive i thought better safe than sorry....are some baby's just more prone to the acne than others? i breastfed gracie too and she just had a couple on her nose of a week or two and that was it.

oh and baby girls can have periods in the early weeks even if they aren't breastfed...it has to do with the hormones that are still in them from pregnancy. my oldest emma did that and she was never breastfed at all.

some babies are more prone to getting lots of acne than others.
some get barely any at all... and some get ALOT like my daughter.

Lol when i 1st saw blood in my babies nappy i totally freaked !!!! i rung my midwife.. and she assured me it was all ok and normal lol.

My son had it all over his face and I hated taking pictures because I would feel so bad His doctor said it wil go away and not to worry, but I wanted them gone. I went to a pharmacy and they told me to use Aveeno Baby it helps heal and protect delicate skin. It worked real good it was all gone in 2 weeks.

ok i'll prolly give it a try....can't hurt right? plus i fel so bad leaving him looking like this and doing nothing about it...i mean does it hurt him? cause i know sometimes a zit can hurt when you touch it and his face is covered in them and they get touched all the time when nursing.

my dad said they need to make a baby proactive lol

I don't remember his hurting him, but his face was a mess. He was about 2 or 3 months when he had it. I just washed his face carefully. I still use it for him because he gets bumps on the back of his neck.

okay i just my "what to expect the first year" book and it pretty much says the oppisite of what you guys say lol

...infant acne, which affects around 40 percent of all newborns, usually begins at two to three weeks and can often last until baby is four to six months old. no one knows for sure the cause of baby acne, but it is believed that such conplexion problems have the same cause as many of the complexion problems of teenagers:hormones.

in the case of newborns, however, it's not their hormones that are causing the problems, but those of their monthers that are still circulating in their systems. these maternal hormones stimulate baby's sluggish sweat glands, causing pimples. another reason for infant acne is that the pores of newborns aren't completely developed, making them easy targets for infiltration by dirt and the resultant blossoming of blemishes.

don't squeeze, scrub with soap, slather with lotions, or otherwise treat your newborn's acne. just wash with water two or three times daily, pat it dry, and it will clear within a few months, leaving no lasting marks.

lol The total opposite! My son got it at 2 or 3 months and patting it with water did nothing. It just got worse and I didn't squeeze or scrub it because it hurted when I did that with my own pimples so why would I do it to his lol. It's up to you and what you feel is right.
