I'm new to this website and was wondering if anyone out there has a child that is/was failure to thrive.

I have been batlling with failure to thrive in my youngest son since he was 3 months old (now 18 months) - he went from 20% to -3% on the wieght charts and we still do not have a definate answer as to why and we still have not been able to get the weight back on - or even be able to maintain the weight curve as it is.

Hi all,

I have a healthy 8 year old boy who is always putting soemthing in his mouth. I just called a nutrisionist to see if she can guide me to better eating habits. He is very active (not a tv watcher or xbox lover) He plays alot of sports.. I think he eats because of his energy level and maybe boreedom. I know it comes from what WE have in the house. I have been trying to cut out on sweets, chips etc..I don't want my child to have an eating disorder from us nagging him but I dont know what to do. How do you put an active 8 year old on a diet!!help...thanks felini..

I'm not sure what failure to thrive is but maybe he has what my friend has. She is really skinny but she still eats all the time. Shes not bulimic, she just has an overactive thyroid. I dont know, maybe if your son eats and still can't gain weight that might be a possible reason. I'm not saying for sure, just a guess.

I had the same problem with my baby. She would eat ALL the time and poop four or five times a day. Ask your dr. to do a sweat test to see if he has cystic fibrosis. I hope not, but the sooner treatement is started the better the outcome for the child. God Bless You
