My daughter just started middle school in 5th grade. She wants to be homeschooled but she still wants to go to band in the public school system. Is this possible? Are there laws to support this?

depends on the homeschool, My homeschool is above the public school here but I can still do all the stuff at public school because my school is in with the district

All you have to do is go to the schools administrative office(I think thats what it is)..anyways..and talk to them...or the head district office...because...if you live in the district..your child homeschooled or not should be able to play in any sport he/she wants...also the band....I live in ohio though..so if you live somewhere else the laws may be different for that state!....
Good Luck
God Bless!

I dual-enrolled my boys the first year of homeschooling...they participated in band and p.e. during their grade levels class time...they also participate in school sports and take the state tests. That helped ease us all into homeschooling, since it was new to us. They elected to not enroll in subjects this year due to the schedule it obligated us to. We like the idea of taking vacations, field trips, and lolly days as we wish.

I have been homeschooled my whole life. I love it. It is fun and there is no peer pressure. I play on a middle school soccer team and I am taking band at a middle school. I work on flvs.net. I would definitely check it out. It is a virtual school.

Dont homeschool if youre not qualified for it,all that will do is put your daughter further behind.Keep her in public school and help her with homework, thats your best bet.But if you choose to homeschool her anyway then I doubt she can still play in band at school, you may have to find an alternative to that such as someone giving lessons from their home or at a community college!? Id keep her in school though if I were you.
