My son has dyslexia and he gets so frustrated with himself sometimes. He throws stuff and hits himself really hard sometimes. He has all this pent up anger because he can't sort his thoughts out properly on paper. What can I do?

My 8 year old son is severly dyslexic so I know where you are coming from. Just try to be as patient as you possibly can and focus and praise what he is good at. Good luck!!

Please read my more recent posts and buy Toe by Toe by Keda Cowling. I know exactly where you are coming from and that little red book saved my life, my son and my marriage.

Hi Caty
i know exactly how your son feels. I used to suffer like that. I always knew what i wanted to say but i could not get it down into paper. I used to be exactly like that with my parents.

what helped me the most was my mum's patience and my dad would get things aout of me by talking about other things then going back to my work so then there wasn't so pressure on me, as the focus of work had been taken away.

Life was still an incredible struggle regardless of my parents brilliant support. I also used to throw things. I have now managed to combat the symptoms of dyslexia and my life has totally changed.

When I was sixteen I finished a programme called dore, which is a brain exercise based stimulating treatment to develop the cerebellum to the stage it should be at. I would recommend this treatment to anyone who is sufferering from learning difficulties as it has totally turned my life around.
