hi jessica i would like to help you. My little girl has a studdering problem and also has dyslexia. She's very b/c of this but at times she's very bright. She's 7 by the way. She takes special classes at school. It's very hard for all of us and she's constantly teased. I hope this helps you a little.

My son is 9 with dyslexia but always did well in Science and Maths. He struggled with the speed of his note-taking and was very frustrated as he is an absolute perfectionist. My son wants to be a lawyer but unfortunately there was a waiting list to get him remedial help with his reading so I had him toutored privately. It used to take him up to 3 hours to write 10 sentences for homework and the stress on our family was unimaginable.
However, I started teaching him myself doing 15-20 minutes a day using a book by Keda Cowling "Toe by Toe" and his reading is now 20 months ahead of his age whereas 2 months ago it was 20 months behind. Honestly, an increase of 40 months. I know this because I had him assessed before and after he started, and I have responded to you in order that I can publicize this simple but effective method of teaching dyslexics and I can only hope that I can improve even one family's life.
Good luck in your project.
