Hello Jennifer,

Everyone thought my son, who has just turned 3 in July, had hearing problems but I knew differently. Turns out he is autistic. Call your Pediatrican and schedule an appt for him or go right to your local CDS (Child Developmental Services) group. All evaluations and services are FREE to you (per Governmental laws.) My advise to you is that you do it sooner than later. The sooner the evaluation and services start for your child, the better chances for him to leave a normal or close to normal life. "EARLY INTERVENTION IS THE KEY!!"
God Bless,
Lynne

jennifer,
i'm going through the same thing with my son. he just turned 2 last month and isn't talking. everyone else thinks he has hearing problems including my hubby. i think differently. sometimes, he'll respond to you when your talking to him and everything will be fine but other times you can call his name out 20 million times at different pitches and he won't answer. i've had him in speech therapy and that doesn't seem to do anything. i thought for a while that he was autistic, b/c of the hearing and his mood swings. but now i think he just has selective hearing, i really do. and about his mood swings i think it came from mommy and daddy might have been yelling a few times.

Jennifer,
What type of advice have you gotten from doctors to do with your son? Are you involved in any type of support groups?
