My son has been diagnosed with ADHD, sensory integration dysfunction and auditory processing disorder. His test scores show a low cognitive ability which you would never know by speaking with him. Before he started school I would have never believed he would have trouble academically. He is currently receiving special education services at school and doing pretty well except for some behavior issues from time to time. He is in a self contained class with 5 other kids getting one on one instruction. The Docs are really trying to talk me into medicating him for the ADHD and I am terrified because of the side effects. Anyone else have some pointers on what I can do to avoid having to medicate him?

My daughter requires medication where nothing else worked. I did read "The ADD Answer": by Dr. Frank Lawlis, and his beliefs that children with this disorder can be controlled through diet. Give it a read, it just might help you. Good luck!

Brain Make Over is a fantastic system that will address all of your childs issues, we have had personal experience of the success it can bring. Medication is really only a short term answer and masks issues rather than presenting true solutions!

www.brainmakeover.com its weel worth a try we know it works and have benefited ourselves and have got rid of all the meds etc

My son is 8 and we tried the changing the diet thing and it didn't work. finally after fighting tooth and nail we decided to put him on medication and its like i have a different kid he needs little instruction if any at school his grades are up, granted we still need to do alot of work but if we haven't put him on the medication he wouldn't have made this drastic of a change. Trust me honey i have been where you are and know exactly what you are going through. I would just make sure you know every thing you can before you make any kind of decision. I hope that i have shed some light on thtis topic for you.
