PROMPT is a speech therapy method developed by Deborah Hayden. More information is at http://www.promptinstitute.com/
In addition, they can email you a list of PROMPT trained therapists in your area. It's not the only method but it is one well regarded method. The most important thing is finding a good SLP who works well with your child. ↑ |
| PROMPT is a tactile-kinesthetic approach to treating children with speech difficulties, particularly apraxia of speech. The speech therapist uses her hands to place/program the child's mouth into the correct position for each sound or string of sounds to make words. It is very invasive for a child to have a therapist's hands on their face so make sure the child trusts the therapist and other methods have been tried before going directly to PROMPT. Has anyone out there used this on a child with cognitive delays or autism? I'm trying to figure out if it would be beneficial for me to be trained but my caseload is primarily with children with cognitive disorders. ↑ |
