Does your dog have either of the disorders you have listed? My old lady dog was starting to get Congestive heart failure just before I had her put to sleep.

My dog - Bono - went into congestive heart failure 6 months before he died. He'd battled with endocardiosis/MVD for years prior. What meds was she on if you don't mind my asking? Mine was on vetmedin, aspirin, fortekor long term

My girl was not diagnosed until I took her in to be put to sleep. I did however see signs of it, she was having a hard time with her breathing and she began to cough a lot. She was on meds for her seizures Phenobarbital & Potassium bromide. She had a long list of ailments, I guess if I were her age I would to. She was 14 years old deaf and almost blind. She had a brain tumor that caused her seizures not to mention a Diaphragmatic hernia. Thats just to mention a few of her medical conditions the list goes on. God I'm missing the old girl!

Yeah difficulty in breathing, and coughing up thick fluid ... Awww poor love. 14 is a long time for her, but it never seems that way, possibly because 14 isn't a long time for us. Heart failure is a cruel end which normally takes a dog's life within weeks of it being so bad that she is coughing. You saved her from a cruel and horrible death. Sometimes I wonder if I should have done the same for my dog. But he was only 8, and I wanted so much more for him. xxx

14 doesn't seem all that log but you are right for a dog it is real old. All the time she was in my family I had not given a thought to how it would be with out her. I guess I took it for granted that she would be there for ever, of course in all reality I know she would have died at one point but just never gave that a thought.

Thank you for talking with me, its nice to talk to some one who can relate to my feelings. I will be receiving her remains in the next wk or so, they will be kept in my office where I spend most of my day. She use to come in my office and curl up in the bed that I kept for her behind my desk. She liked to be near me as much as she could. I still look for her there! Well... I still have my Oliver bird and my cat. Oliver is my Meyers Parrot he is a great bird! I love him almost as much as my old lady dog. My cat is special too, I adopted her from my sister she is now 9 years old and the most adorable friendly girl. So I do have other animal family not to mention my daughters two dogs that I love dearly. They keep ones hands full just like young children! Again Thanks so much Brisis for putting up with my blubbering about my old lady dog.
