I have 4 cats and 2 Bearded Dragons(i still not sure if i will keep one of them or both longer or sell it) as im a month preg.. so i know will be fun to have cats with my baby... as long these cats not stratch or anything to harm our baby cuz i dont believe in declawed. so my concern is do anyone think this might be to much responsible to handle with my 2 lizards(they are a year old) if i have newborn baby which it will be my first. i have great man who will take care of us. so it will put in a bit stress for us as new parenthood?

I dont think cats are a great responsibility to begin with. They are pretty much self sufisient all you need to do for them is feed and clean thier box. I have my cat on all hard food with a self feeder, I fill the feeder once every two weeks. The only problem you may have with the cats and a child...... is when the child reaches toddler age and gets intrested in the cat. When that happens the cat may scratch the child!

What diffrence of opinion are you talking about? I think you miss understood what I am saying! I am saying keep the cats they (are not )an extra responsibility. The( only )problem you will have is the cat may scratch the child, when he or she reaches toddler age and becomes intrested in the cat. That is not to say that I suggested that you get rid of the cats, all I am saying is children become intrested and chase. When they catch a cat the cat feels threatened and will scratch. Again you miss understood what I was saying! I woldnt get rid of my animals because of a baby eather.

Lizards can harbour dangerous bacteria, so you shouldn't really be handling them - contact your vet for more information regarding what that particular species may be carrying.

Cats may also have toxoplasmosis, so you need to wear gloves if you're emptying cat litter trays - wash with antibacterial handwash afterwards then rub with an alcohol handrub.

I have a cat and she gets on fine with my toddler. She didn't go anywhere near him when he was a baby - cats don't like the crying. He's been scratched a couple of times, but nothing serious and he still follows her around calling her name - it hasn't put him off.

That's okay. See how you get on with managing your pets after the baby is born. There'll probably be no problems at all. Get your husband to take care of them whilst you concentrate on the babycare aspect of things.
Your cats will probably be fine.
