If you are thi nking of getting a bird resurch prior to getting it. They need a lot of attention as well as a lot of stimulation to keep from getting board. Much to the dissbeliefs of many birds are extremely intelligent animals, especially Parrots!

Birds should not be used as a decorative animal they should be removed from their cage as well as handeled at least twice a day!

The large birds such as Amazons, African Greys and Cockatoos can become verry depressed if not propperly taken care of. They will display behaviore that is unplesant and most unexperianced bird owners have no clue why the bird is behaveing that way.

So be sure you ask many questions before getting a bird. You will want to know how long the life expectancy is and what attention is required. Much like looking for a puppy!

Bengalese/ Society Finches are brilliant to keep. I have 2 little males, and they sing and dance every day. They are messy boys, but like all finches are timid; they won't allow you to touch them, and prefer to be in their cage. When I let them out once a week, to clean their cage, they are always trying to sneak back in. They live for around 4 yrs, and are hardy, strong little birds, who, if looked after properly, rarely get sick. If you are looking for a bird, these are brilliant!

Finches dont have much brain, all they really need is another companion in the cage with them.. and they are set. and yeah they jump and sing all day.. really cute little birds and very easy to look after.

The parrot birds are not as easy to care for, they live a long life and need a lot of attention. I have a Meyers parrot he's not a large parrot but he needs the same care as the much larger breeds. He will live for 30 years! Yes...a long time pet!

My cockatiel Izzy is going really well. She lives out of her cage and goes back in twice a day...lol

She is flying around the room now and landing back on her cage...and if you go sit down in the lounge she will actually fly over to be with you...she is sweet. She rules our house and she bit the new puppy on the nose today : )
