Well... my poor old lady dog can no longer climb the stairs to go in and out for potty. I have to carry her up and down the stairs most of the time! Her appetite has gotten less and with each day she seems more and more confused. I'm thinking her time is drawing near.

Poor old girl. I remember when my lovely boy started getting on in life. He had heart disease which aged him in the last 6 months of his life. He only lived till he was 8 and a half. It's sad to see them age. xxx

she has been to the vet, her problem is that she is 14 years old and has been suffering from a brain tumor. She has seizures that she has to take two meds to control. She is just getting weak due to her age and medical condition.

It is sad to see her age but I am fortunate that I have been able to enjoy her this long. I guess with life there is death and animals are no different from people, they have to get old and die to!

I'm so sorry to hear that lindalu....my thoughts are with you at this time. xoxo

This is it. You have to be emotionally strong to keep animals, because their life expectancy is so short compared with ours. And yet losing a beloved pet is exactly the same as losing a human we love. In a way, the loss of my dog was the hardest loss I've had to bear, even though several family members of mine have died. It's now up to you to decide what is best for your girl. x

Thanks every one for your kind words. I have made an appointment with her doctor to for tomorrow, at that time I will have her put to sleep. She is now having trouble holding her urine. All I'm doing by keeping her alive is extending the quantity of her life not the quality. She should be able to live with a good quality and she isn't.

Lindalu,
I am SO sorry you have had to come to this decision, and it's a very selfless one. I always say it's either they suffer or we suffer, and it should never be them. Thinking of you. xxx

Again thank you!
Well...I have been to the vets, now my old lady dog is now resting. While there I found that she also had a hernia, I suspected she did I just wanted it confirmed. Her joints were pretty bad as well! She had so many things wrong with her health it was just a matter of time before they got worse and she would start suffering. I didn't want her to have any suffering at all! I don't feel bad for her, in fact I have a feeling of comfort. I will how ever miss her deeply!

Oh sweetie I am so sorry!! I hope that you are doing okay, I know that is a very hard thing to do.

yes Momof3 I am doing well, thank you so much for your concern. I have realized that it was time for her, that keeping her here was only benefiting me not her. She is now in a better place!

I'm so sorry. You made a selfless decision, and I'm glad you find comfort in the fact that she is no longer suffering. I understand how unbearably painful the loss of a pet can be. My boy has been gone 8 months now, and I cried for him just this morning. Give yourself time to grieve, and if you need to talk, we're here. xxx

i love dogs, a lot. My uncle just had his sweet lady put ot sleep too, because of old age. He isnt handling it well, any suggestions in cheering him up or should i just wait. I am so sorry for you, thats one of the reasons my mom wont let me have a dog. She doesnt relize no matter how short their life is, they make an impact all the same. Anyway your help is appreicated :) I plan to be a vet when i grow up, so i have to get used to the fact dogs die just like us but hopefully i will be able to help owners cope with the loss!
I'm soory again!

I think every one deals with a loss in different ways. For me it will be time, there isn't any thing that can be said to make it easier. My hart will still hurt! All I can do is just continue with my life and keep busy each day. I am sorry I cant help you! I think like my self, your uncle will heal with time! You are so right our beloved fury friends will have to leave us one day, but we will always have their memories to help us through.

Momof3
Thank you for asking, I am fine! Even though it was a hard thing to do I know it was the right thing! If my old lady dog could thank me for it I believe she would. I will miss her terribly!

I am fine now, thank you for asking! I have a lot of people offering to buy me puppy's but I'm not ready for another one at this time. I think I'll wait a good long time before I get another dog.

I understand. my fiancé bought me another cavalier king charles spaniel (same breed as Bono) a few weeks after Bono died as a birthday surprise. The new dog is a joy, but will never replace Bono.

Since this post I had to have my little old lady put to sleep. She was a wonderful loving old sole, but could no longer handle the pressures of life. I miss her terribly! she will always be a part of my heart.
