I lost my lil poodle Jacques to an accident earlier in the week. (the 3rd) He was too excited and jumped out of my dd's arms onto the deck. It only took a few minutes and he was gone. There was absolutely nothing I could have done for him. I cry all the time, I can't sleep b/c he was always there with me. I'm having such a hard time. He was my baby boy...and I will miss him dearly!! Jeez...how do you get through something like this? I was hardly able to get up on the 4th to do anything....I'm just now getting around. this stinks!!

Lory, So sorry. :( It's a terrible thing to go through. I lost my King Charles to heart failure several months back. The loss of a beloved pet is not something you ever get over, but you will learn to continue with your life without Jacques. Think of ways to remember him. With me, I have my dog's photos up, his remains in his urn, a clipping of his hair, and his collar in my family room. x

Thanks so much for your replies. I'm hangin in there...it does seem so "empty" without him. I also have his collar in my family room. My dh keeps telling me to think of the time I had with him. I'm working on putting up pics...but, I cry every time see them. I know it will take some time....thanks again.
I'm so sorry for your losses too...best wishes to both of you!

Same thing happened to me with my poodle, Toots (like tootsie pop) and I was HEART BROKEN because I loved her soo much..but after awhile you just learn to live with the fact that your best friend is gone..I wish the BEST for you and your family.

Hi lindalu....it's been a little easier lately. Keeping busy w/summer fun and all. Some days are easier than others...when there's times he should be at my feet..and he's not. I'm sure you know what I mean. But...there's been a some talk about a lil poodle pup. dh insists that he's getting me one for my b-day in Sept. I told him NO...it's too soon. So...now he's talking Christmas pup. I feel guilty for even thinking about another dog...cannot replace my baby boy. Thanks so much for your concern....(((HUGS))) Take Care!

Getting another dog is hard for some. I'm going to just say that you wouldnt be replacing him and that he would want you to be happy, but i understand that it will take time. I too felt guilty when my friend got another dog so soon (her dog was like mine) Doesnt seem right does it? Also, my other best friend's dog recently passed away-very tragic really anyway- but right before he died her parents got her a new puppy, same breed and everything. My friend hated that puppy, because he old dog-toto-had been alive her whole life! They got him 2 years before she was born so he was always there. Just take it a day at a time and you will learn that each day is a step ahead of the past.
