Does any one have a recipe for a natural remedy for fleas and ticks? I am looking for one that I can treat my yard with, one that will not harm animals. I have deer and other live wild animals that are local to my yard. I don't want to harm them with commercial sprays. My yard is over loaded with ticks and my dogs are coming in house covered with them.

Google lime. We put lime in our yard and ours have never had a flea or tick. It's good for the grass too. I'm not positive that's the reason but it has to have some effect on the parasites because our area is loaded with them and we have none.

Let me know : )

Hello Dawn, I'm from Massachusetts. We are coming in to some good weather now so the ticks and fleas are really getting bad. I will have to look up the lime thing you mentioned. When you say lime, do you mean lime the fruit or lime the lawn acidity treatment? Dawn how have you been doing with the loss of your dog? I have been thinking about you, every time my old lady dog has an episode you pop in to my mind.

Lime the lawn acidity treatment LOL! I save the fruit lime for my rum and cokes : )

We are doing OK. Sometimes I turn around looking for Max before I remember he is gone. I miss his nightly song so much! Thank you for asking, you are very kind. Please give your old lady dog a kiss and a snuggle from me ♥

Dont know how to spell it but it is something you buy at a pool supply called diatomachis earth or diatom powder. it is nothing but very fine crushed bones, good for your yard you can put it straight on your pet and it will not hurt them. It is like tiny little razor blades to fleas and tick and cuts them and they dehidrate. works great and a 50# bag is only like 14.00 Good luck.

Petmaster, their not that kind of razor blades so dont think their on sale...lol you will just have to use the old fashion ones. It truely does work and you have to do it 14 days after the first time as it nor will anything else kill the eggs. But you will see that it is great. If you shake and bake your chihuahua be sure to leave in an air hole? lol

I'm looking for a solution to a piece of yard that I just can't get any grass to grow on.I plant the same grass seed everywhere else and it grows fine, but in the area that my two Basset Hounds tend to use for their area, I just can't get anything to grow.Any one have an idea ?

The most common thing I have heard is putting brewer's yeast into the animal's food. It is not a quick fix but is a natural long-lasting effect which might help. I would check to see if it is okay to feed to certain animals first though but from what I understand, it is great for almost all animals. Good luck!!

i know if you will spray your yard with diluted pine sol this will kill fleas.i'm not sure about ticks, you will have to spray something up in the trees.hope this helps.good luck.oh yeah, you can also give your dogs garlic to keep the fleas from getting on your dogs so bad.

We have fleas in our backyard. How do we get rid of them?

I use to spent a couple of hundred a season on getting rid of fleas. Now my treatment cost about $10.00 per season. You will need to purchase a bag of garden lime (Lowes, Manards, Home Depot), salt (kitchen cooking salt), dawn dishwashing liquid. To start sprinkle lime in yard. Make sure you cover all areas. Next sprinkle salt on carpet and on floors inside of house. Last give the dogs a bath with dawn. Garden lime will not harm pets.

oops! allow the salt to stay on carpet and floor overnite. If you have fleas you will see them jump about an inch then its over for them. leaving the salt overnite will catch the ones that are on the sofa and other high places. they are going to jump to the floor. you can water the grass just a little to clear the white color left by the lime.
