1. Jack Russell terrier-An incredibly active dog who needs LOTS of training and exercise- not an ideal pet for most people!

2. Irish terrier-Fairly large for a terrier.

3. American Staffordshire Terrier- Most other registries register these dogs as American Pit Bull Terriers. The same dog can be registered as an AST with the AKC and as an APBT with the UKC.

4. Dandie Dinmont terrier-From the novel 'Guy Mannering' written by Sir Walter Scott.

5. Wire fox terrier-The show dogs are meticulously groomed, unlike the average scruffy pet.
6. Scottish terrier-Scotties are independent, proud and scrappy.

7. Bedlington terrier-It was once a poor man's ratter.

8. Airedale terrier-This is a very tough and loyal dog, which has been used for everything from bear hunting to search and rescue.

9. Cairn terrier-The cairn is also one of the milder terriers in temperment.

10. Great Britain-All except the American Staffordshire Terrier, Miniature Schnauzer, and Australian Terrier originated in Great Britain
