Name: 10calama | Date: Jan 25th, 2009 10:29 PM
I can't count how many, at least 30

Name: 10calama | Date: Jan 25th, 2009 10:30 PM
once I was in under four names in one night.

I'm really suprised I haven't been banned, as an admitted welfarst. I think it's importain for me to understand the philosphy behind animal rights as I'm going to meet people who feel that way in my career. I'll prolly be banned now, which is OK, I waste waaay too much time on that site but need some kind of amusement in the midst of college allgebra homework.

I understand.

Here are Some things I lied about on PETA
1. my dad isn't a vet, my grandpa is
2. I am only 16 years old so it was actualy my parents dog I was talking about

O and check out PETA once more, I gave them a challenge, its kind of funny.

I am going to try to get away from you on PETA because now that I am a "troll" it would do well for you to get some distance from me. Whatever I say, say it is wrong, unless you are already kicked off.

Yeah, I think most people just are confused. I think PETA itself has givin in to popular demand alot to keep the dollars flowing and people are eating it up. Did you know that there was a time PETA was against all pets?

I really don't care one way or another. I waste too much time on that site. I can't believe they haven't banned me.

I know more than I would care to about the animal rights movement.

same here. but it has come in handy for my dual enrollment english 101 class. I wrote a final paper on PETA and probably 80% of the stuff i had was from that forum site.

I will admit it is addicting, that forum.

It was an intresting topic. I have grown up low income. We didn't even have city water until I was 9.

I don't complety get what demograph these people are from but I think it would be fair to say at least middle class.

I am an animal lover, I want to dedicate my life to improving lives of animals but it's unfair to hold them in the same esteem as humans, simpy because they are not humans. The same rules can't be applied. I have a room full of old dogs right now. If one came down with an issue like failing kidneys, I'd place a call to my vet and have it done here at home.

It's unethical to break yourself to fix a pet because how are you going to feed it afterward?

Go back and edit out the link here... not that I think they'll follow but they might and I'd really like to not talk about things from an animal rights perspective.

I edited the link but at least one of them has already gotten here, logan made a reference to my age.

The dog I was talking about, my grandpa has no euthanation equipment and the girl downtown wouldn't do it so we had to euthanize her ourselves. It was sad to have to do it ourselves. We used carbon monoxide from our car and she had no pain at all, she actually went to sleep before she died, we figured it was better than shooting her. Do you have any thoughts on that method? I've been told by some that it is inhumane.

English 101! I wish I would have wrote a paper on this, I wrote a paper on mental health professionals being legal drug dealer. LOL. I wish I had been looking into animal rights at the time.

So you are still in High school? Lucky. I'm about to head off a university.

yea I'm actualy a junior in HS right now. My school has been paying for me to take up to 6 college credits a semester on the school. It's been a good deal so far.

Name: Mutt | Date: Jan 25th, 2009 11:08 PM
No, I don't think shooting is inhumane. I think if you have access to other methods you should chose those first.

If my horse hurt herself fatally- I would end her suffering before waiting on my vet- that could mean up to an hour of suffering. It would be hard to do though.

I have heard people talk about the method of carbon monxide, with mixed review. I think they did it incorrectly, I'm glad it turned out well for you.

Wow, I just looked, you had 264 posts on PETA! I never got past a hundred on a single name.

Our family just recently got a horse. Due to a few different reasons we had to bring her to our house to live. We live on the edge of a subdivision so our neighbors got very upset with us. she is a quarterhorse named missy.

I have two. I have a mare and my boyfriend has a gelding. We keep the horses on my moms little farm, it's full of rescued creatures. I'm gonna miss it when I leave.

Did your grandpa work on small animals or large?

Name: 10calama | Date: Jan 25th, 2009 11:19 PM
He did a little of both. He started down in ohio were he was in a clinic with three other vets(one was extremly corrupt). He ended up moving up here after that and started a mink ranch(can you tell why PETA hates my family). From then till now he's mostly done little things for friends and relatives.

Have you heard all this about large animal vet shortages? I wonder what it will do for our admissions process.

Name: 10calama | Date: Jan 25th, 2009 11:41 PM
I here schools are giving huge scholarships for students who declare that they are going into large animal veterinary medicine. I also know that large animal vets are making tremendusly more money than small animal vets go to http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos076.htm#outlook

this info is for 2006 but I think the difference between large and small animal vets has grown since then.

In case you read that story I put on PETA. It is true and when i heard about it I was sickened to the core. When it comes to stoping those kind of acts PETA is entirely in the right.

well g2g. I've been on the computer to long as it is, i'll try to check this string as often as possible so we can continue our conversation. perhaps next time it will be away from prying eyes ;)

I agree. I have seen some very disturbing things. Alot of people don't value animal life at all. We have crowds of cock fighters, dog fighters, backyard breeders, etc.

What I have found though when trying to reason with these people is you can't make a change with intimadation and anger, they just shut you out. I have talked so many people into adopting shelter animals rather than buying one or not breeding thier animals just to watch it give birth.

I believe an educated welfarst approach is more effective than a radical approach.
