A BABY suffered horrific head injuries when she was savaged by a pet dog.

One-year-old Paige Foster was at a family friend's house when the Jack Russell sank its fangs into her face, scarring her for life.

But the terrier will NOT be put down - because the breed is not covered by "dangerous animal" laws.

Paige needed eight stitches in her cheek and lip after the attack.

Days later, her blood-sugar levels sunk so low from shock she almost slipped into a coma.

Medics managed to save her - and she was last night recovering at home in Skipton, North Yorks.

Mum Lee-Anne, 20, slammed the decision not to destroy the dog.

She said: "I've lost all faith in the legal system.

"Would I have had to lose my daughter for the police to take action?

"The law needs to be changed. It shouldn't matter what type of dog it is."

It just goes to show that any dog can do that. Not just your "bully" breeds. People can love their pets as much as children, but they need to remember that an animal is an animal.
I feel so bad for that little girl, thank-you for posting this to show that all dogs can do this, not just the "mean" ones.

T-rabbit thats terrible!!!!!!!!! Momof3 you are so right it can happen with any breed dog. The only thing is, is that you dont hear of the other attacks as much as the pit attacks!

I couldn't believe it never thought I would hear about a jack doing this. This is why I have never, never left the children alone with my animals. Any thing can happen in a blink of an eye.

I was reading in my local news that a Pom chewed up the face of an infant! It is terrible to see any of these storys. Especially if you are an animal lover! even though it is so bad... you cant help but feel for the dog. I know sounds weird but I cant help but wonder what went wrong, and why? The dog doesnt understand what he did was wrong! He only acts on instinct! Not to say I dont feel for the child, but I also cant help but feel for the animal as well.
