Shawnte ... Congrats on your pregnancy! I can understand that you are scared - but things will work out - they always do. There are alot of programs out there to help single parents - use them if you decide to parent this baby. There is also the option of chosing an adoption plan for your baby - there are alot of wonderful couples out there who are looking to adopt and provide a baby with a wonderful loving home.
Shawnte - what ever you choose - I wish you the best of luck!
If you need someone to talk to - I would love to offer you support. All of my contact information is on our website ....www.momdad2bee.com

Warmest Wishes!

Shawnte,
30 years ago I experienced this very thing. I was 17, my oldest son Steve was born on 12/1/75. His father signed off all rights in 1977, having never seen his son.
For myself, forever the rebel, before even telling the father, I knew I wanted and needed to raise this child.
You ask, now what? A decision on your part. A life changing decision.
Two options are available, to raise this child or to place this child for adoption. How dose one make such a decision? Find out all the information you can on these two choices.
If you make the choice to raise this child, look for others who can support you family, friends, single parent support groups and other's stories. If the father continues his stand, take him to court for a blood test can prove paternity and he is legally responsible to financially support.
Perhaps one of the best resources for information is the internet. I am sure there are many more programs and access to information available now than 30 years ago.
If you make the choice to place the child for adoption, research first, not just adoption agencies but read the chat rooms for the comments of those who are living with the long term effects of adoption. Please consider reading through as many sites as you can. Why am I suggesting this? A few years back my son met his father. Steve was in his late 20's meeting his father for the first time.
I had never said anything negative about his dad and had asked my family to do the same, explaining it would cause harm to Steve. I fully support him in having this relationship and for them both it has "filled an emptiness" they both had felt for a very long time.

Love to You and Yours,
Linda
