Sweeti there are no safe chat rooms. You just have to supervise his activity while on there. Chats can be fun and entertaining at times, but he needs to be aware of the potential dangers and rules of using a chat. Always put youre computer in a room what the whole family has access to like a family rm or kitchen and even a den.

I have epilepsy, well I did have. I had nocturnal epilepsy so had fits when going into sleep or coming out of sleep. It was very bad, especially when I was pregnant as I lived alone and I was quite worried in case I harmed them but things are alright. Although, i have started having the aura before a seizure these past 15 days and am having a sleep deprivation eeg on thursday, I hate them so much, how can someone go to sleep in a hospital with electordes stuck to their chest, nipples and brain with chewing gum? (Not actually chewing gum, but a gummy like glue) My 9 year old sister is best friends with a set of twins, one of which has cerebal palsy, and she is a real sweetie, though I do wish that she was mine sometimes because her mother does little or one of her excercises that she should with her so her palsy is getting worse each year. What type of epilepsy does your son have if you don't mind my asking, it's just, im trying to look for others with sleep epilepsy and it's so difficult. Google can't seem to turn up anything that I'm looking for, and I must have tried every combination of words created lol.

Hi Nicola
My son has complex partial epilepsy. I have not heard of someone with nocturnal epilepsy before. I agree, how does someone get to sleep wired up for an eeg. Soon my son will have to have that done also...that should be interesting!

i had the sleep EEG before, and they said I did get to sleep but I don't remember it at all. I just remember trying really hard to go to sleep. I was around 11 almost 12 when I had it done. I'm sure there are lots of chatrooms that would be suitable for your son but I doubt tthere are any that are actually safe. But with monitoring and lots of discussion with your son, I'm sure you can make them as safe as possible.

Hi miriam, my daughter is 4 years old and diagnosed 8 days ago with bipolor and underlining add.was put on risperdal quarter dose for one week than upped to .05 on the seventh day. she has improved tremendesly in those 8 days, however one of the side affects of risperdal is trembling or shaking. my doctor said if this happens to call him. if you go online and look up risperdal side effects it will show you what to watch for.if you look up www.risperdal.com and it will give you side effect including tremors.my wife and i are looking to talk to other parents to talk or learn what we can do to help our children!!and remember your not alone in this.

OMG, I just googled special needs chat rooms and found your request. I have 6 special needs children. I have to teenage boys with really no "real" friends. They struggle with the social cues and regularity of the world. I thought a chat room with others that understand them more would be awesome. Please respond if interested. Sons are 17,& 14.

Im so happy that everyone is sending in their messages and talking together in this site. Charlie has found a good friend from here in Scotland,. Even though he isnt close to us here in Australia they can still have great mateship in email and live chat and even on the phone. I really just wanted everyone to know this is not a waste of time and there is hope of finding someone in a similiar situation as yourselves.

Hello everyone. My son is 7 mo and he's never been fed by mouth. He's got a g-tube and I was wondering if anyone is in this kind of situation? It's just hard not to be able to talk to ANYONE that doesn't have this in common. I just want someone to talk to. Please email me: [email protected] or reply to this.

Thanks for your post Martin. I checked out your site and it looked good from what I could tell. I was going to join it but I noticed that when I went to pay it wasnt a secured site. I was always told that there should be a padlock on the page to show its secure but there wasnt. So based on that, I didnt put all my credit card details.

Would like to recommend a speech therapy service in Malaysia, if anyone is looking... LEMM International Therapy (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Lemmit ). It's a unique home-based program catering to children with special needs... also keeps the parents involved in the therapy. Contact info is on the brochure if you follow the link. All the best.
